Mackenzie Skapski earns first WHL shutout in Ice's 1-0 win over Oil Kings

CRANBROOK, B.C. - Kootenay Ice goalie Mackenzie Skapski made 25 saves for his first career shutout in a 1-0 win over the Edmonton Oil Kings in Western Hockey League action on Sunday night.

Collin Shirley scored the only goal of the game for Kootenay (3-5-0) late in the second period. He put a wristshot high on Tristan Jarry's stick side for the eventual winner.

Jarry stopped 21 shots for Edmonton (5-3-1-1).

The win ended the Ice's 11-game losing streak against the Oil Kings.

Kootenay went 0-for-8 on the power play including a two-man advantage for 33 seconds in the second period. Edmonton was 0-for-3.
