The incident happened early Sunday morning as 65-year-old Hoshiar Singh Bajwa was patrolling a construction site in the suburb just east of Vancouver.
Canuck Security operation manager Rupinder Sagoo says company dispatchers alerted him to a problem at the site and he contacted Bajwa, who was able to confirm he was injured and the three attackers had fled.
Sagoo says he rushed to the scene to find Baijwa had been beaten repeatedly with a steel pipe.
The victim is now recovering from a serious eye injury and gashes that required more than 100 stitches.
The three suspects are believed to be in their 20s, and Sagoo says they ran without taking anything. (CKNW, News1130)
