REGINA - The Saskatchewan New Democratic Party is opening up the books in the race for a new leader.

The party has published the first monthly financial disclosure statements of the four NDP leadership candidates, as well as a list of those who have donated $250 or more to each candidate.

Saskatoon MLA Cam Broten (BROH'-tin) raised the most in September — $19,694.99 — while Regina MLA Trent Wotherspoon spent the most — $26,792.34.

Saskatoon physician Ryan Meili (MY'-lee) had $13,188.81 in contributions and economist Erin Weir reached $14,666.89.

The party says the next financial statement from the candidates will be published in mid-November.

Saskatchewan New Democrats will choose their next leader at a convention in March.
