Fifteen thousand workers, members of the BC Government and Service Employees Union, support the developmentally disabled, at-risk youth, women fleeing violence, First Nations, and other vulnerable people.
Vancouver union members will rally at 10 a.m. in front of Premier Christy Clark's Point Grey constituency office.
They accuse the Liberal government of imposing $300-million in funding cuts on their clients since 2004, and they are demanding a fair and reasonable wage, saying they do the most with the least.
The job action in Vancouver will be followed by similar walk outs in Kamloops on Wednesday and Prince George on Thursday.
The BCGEU is the largest union in the community social services sector, representing about two-thirds of workers.
