EDMONTON - A woman is dead and two teenagers are in hospital with serious injuries after a sport utility vehicle tumbled off a bridge in Edmonton.
Police say the 40-year-old woman was driving the SUV when the crash happened early Monday evening in the city's northeast (on the Beverly Bridge).
They say the eastbound SUV struck a guardrail after the collision, went over the railing and tumbled down a grassy embankment.
The driver died at the scene, while a 13-year-old girl who was riding with her was taken to hospital in critical condition.
An 18-year-old female passenger who was in the same vehicle is listed as serious.
The crash forced police to close a section of the busy Yellowhead Trail while they investigated. (CHED)
