The man who shot a Canadian border guard in the neck and then turned the gun on himself has been identified as Andrew Michael Crews, 32, of Seattle.
The B.C. Coroners Service released the man's identity on Wednesday.
Lori Bowcock, 28, who was wounded while working in a customs booth at the Peace Arch border crossing Tuesday, is expected to make a full recovery.
The RCMP are investigating the case as an attempted murder, and reviewing video surveillance to determine a motive.
A man driving a white van with Washington state licence plates was trying to cross into Canada when he shot Bowcock, then killed himself.
"The current evidence clearly indicates that prior to taking his own life, Mr. Crews deliberately fired at the victim. There is no evidence however to suggest the victim was specifically targeted," said Supt. Kevin Hackett in a news release Wednesday.
Crews most recently worked at Under the Needle Tattoo in Seattle, reported KING 5 News.
His friends say he also worked at Lucky Boys Tattoo Parlor in Silverdale, Wash. Friends and coworkers say there was no indication anything was wrong or that he knew the border officer, reported KOMO News.

Crews' Facebook profile says he went to high school in Henderson, Nev. and dropped out of the College of Southern Nevada.
Reached in Las Vegas, Crews' stepfather told the Seattle Times Crews sent an unusual text message to his mother on Monday that read: "I love you so much. I'm sorry." His family tried but failed to contact him after that.
Danny Lupinek said as far as they knew, Crews didn't have addictions or mental health issues, and he wasn't depressed or in trouble.
Photos posted on his social media accounts feature Crews singing in a band and working on various tattoo clients. One image appeared to be a close-up of a handgun.
The Peace Arch, officially known as Douglas crossing, is the third busiest point of entry between Canada and the U.S. It straddles Surrey, B.C. and Blaine, Wash.
