Nanaimo Mounties say a five-year-old tabby returned to its home in the 500 block of Chestnut Street late Sunday night with its four paws duct-taped. The cat’s tail was also bent over backwards and taped to its back.
The cat was taken to a local veterinarian, where it was sedated in order to remove the duct tape.
Police say it’s the second time the cat has been duct-taped this month.
"Needless to say, the cat’s owner and her family are extremely upset that someone would do this to their family pet," said RCMP Const. Gary O’Brien.
"This type of behavior is also considered criminal in nature and is being investigated by our officers and local SPCA investigators."
Anyone with information is asked to contact Nanaimo RCMP or Crime Stoppers.
