A rampaging moose attacked an RCMP cruiser in northern B.C., bruising an officer, and breaking the car's windshield, front grill and bumper.
The officer was parked on a Prince George street early Thursday when he saw two moose crossing the intersection. He started his cruiser to try to stop another vehicle that was headed towards the animals, said RCMP in a news release.
As the cruiser approached, the bull moose damaged the front of the car, then stepped onto it, denting the hood and roof, and continued on to smash the windshield.
The stomping and kicking animal made its way onto the roof, said RCMP.
"One of the animal's hoofs slid off the roof breaking the driver's side window, striking the officer in the process," said Cpl. Craig Douglass.
The moose eventually got off the car by walking down onto the trunk.
"Both the culprit and accomplice departed the area on hoof," deadpanned Douglass.
The officer suffered bruising on his left shoulder but did not require medical. He finished his shift and went home.
"The Prince George RCMP would like to use this incident as a reminder to the public to keep a safe distance from wild animals. Although they are likely more scared of people than we are of them, we believe our officer would disagree," said Douglass.
