A major portion of one of the city's subway lines is going to be closed all weekend.
Beginning at midnight Friday the section of the Bloor-Danforth line between Kipling and Keele stations will be closed for track repairs.
"We require many, many weekends," to carry out repairs, said TTC spokesman Danny Nicholson. "This is all part of our state of good repair program. The work needs to be done and unfortunately we do it on the weekends because it would inconvenience more people if we did it during the weekdays."
Shuttle buses will operate between Kipling and Keele, stopping at all subway stations, he said.
"We anticipate that that stretch of the Bloor-Danforth line between Kipling to Keele station would impact about 25,000 of our customers over the course of the weekend," Nicholson said.
And above ground service from Union Station will also be affected for the next two weekends.
At Union Station, the second platform project will affect the 509 Harbourfront, 6 Bay and 320 Yonge. Each of the buses will be diverted because Bay Street will be closed between Wellington Street and Lake Shore Boulevard on Oct. 26-29 and Nov. 2-5.
All of the route diversions are posted on the TTC's web site.
