Jeff Mallett, San Francisco Giants' Owner, Keeps BC Connections

Canadian Connection To World Series' Giants

UPDATE: The San Francisco Giants swept the Detroit Tigers on Sunday, winning their second World Series in three seasons.

With the baseball world’s eyes on the San Francisco Giants in the 2012 World Series, a B.C. native is in the middle of all the excitement.

Jeff Mallett, born in North Vancouver and raised in Victoria, is a principal owner of the Giants, among other interests.

Mallett made his mark as one of the first dozen employees at Yahoo! Inc. in the ‘90s and helped build the business into an Internet giant before leaving the firm in 2002.

Mallett hasn’t lost his Canadian sensibilities. Despite a “fancy-schmancy owners’ box,” he sits behind the Giants’ on-deck circle for the World Series games, according to Postmedia News.

An elite soccer player in the '80s, Mallett continues to invest in several sports and business ventures in B.C.
