RCMP in B.C. say they want to track down $12,000 worth of fireworks stolen from a Burnaby business before someone gets hurt.

Officers say 100 boxes of fireworks were stolen from the business on the 5900 block of Broadway in Burnaby sometime between 11:30 p.m. Sunday and 9:30 a.m. PT Monday morning.

Cpl. Rick Skolrood says they are concerned the thieves will try to sell the items to teenagers or anyone without a permit, putting purchasers at risk.

"Every year many people are injured while playing with fireworks," he said. "Parents should be especially cognisant of dangers as many of the victims of these tragic events are teenagers."

A 50-inch television and a laptop computer were also stolen, and police want to hear from anyone who has information about the heist or who may know of illegal sales of fireworks.
