Edmonton police woman fired for giving false statements during interview

EDMONTON - An Edmonton woman has been fired for discreditable conduct.

Const. Janice Martens, a four-year member with the EPS, was charged with discreditable conduct on July 10, 2012.

Police say she had provided false and misleading statements during an interview on Sept. 28, 2010.

Martens was a witness officer at the time in an internal investigation.

The disciplinary hearing into Martens’ conduct begun on July 25.

On Wednesday, police say the hearing concluded with a ruling that she was guilty of misconduct.
