Party Fundraising Numbers For Third Quarter Good News For NDP

Good News For NDP In Fundraising Numbers
CP

The party fundraising numbers for the third quarter of 2012 have been released by Elections Canada and they contain good news for the NDP and an ominous omen for the Liberals.

While the Liberals still managed to garner a larger grand total for the period (due to transfers from registered associations and candidates) , the NDP narrowly bested the Grits on total contributions from individuals. The Liberals had managed to raise more cash than the NDP in each of the first two quarters of the year.

According to Alice Funke of Pundit's Guide, the Liberals saw this coming, sending out a blast of fundraising emails to contacts near the end of September.

Despite this third quarter setback, the Grits are still ahead of the NDP year-to-date.

The NDP also just narrowly missed besting the Liberals on number of donors, a key figure that gives an indication of which direction fundraising is headed in the future.

Also of note in the period was the ongoing dismal performance of the Bloc Québécois. Not only was their total one third of the Green Party's, but the Bloc failed to get a single donation at the maximum of $1,200. Their largest donation in the quarter was $1,000 and the next highest was $500.

You can check out all the details of the third quarter numbers in the slideshow below.
