WILLIAMS LAKE, B.C. - Halloween was mainly quiet in most B.C. communities, but it was far from routine in Williams Lake, B.C.

RCMP Insp. Warren Brown says the mayhem began at about 9 p.m. Halloween night when as many as one dozen people burst into a home in that Cariboo city.

Brown says the assailants were armed with machetes, bats and bear spray as they targeted the house and kicked-in the door.

The occupants fled into a locked room and weren't hurt, but were helpless to stop the suspects from ransacking the home.

Brown says Mounties arrived within minutes and officers chased the suspects to a second house where the entire group was arrested.

He says three more people were arrested just after midnight during a second home invasion, although there's no word if the two break-ins are connected. (CHNL)
