York officer injured during arrest

A York Regional Police officer was hurt Monday morning while trying to arrest a man police found sleeping in a vehicle near Yonge Street and Steeles at around 1:30 a.m.

Police say the suspect tried to drive away during the arrest, causing injury to the officer’s arm. The vehicle finally stopped when it rammed into another police cruiser.

The suspect also suffered injuries and was taken to hospital. He is expected to recover.

There's no word yet on charges.
