Summerside lawyer Derek Key was announced Tuesday as a new member of the board of directors of the Bank of Canada.

Key is a partner with McInnis Cooper’s Prince Edward Island office, where he practices as a corporate commercial lawyer with a focus on aerospace and employment law. He was appointed along with Phyllis Clark, CFO at the University of Alberta.

"Ms. Clark and Mr. Key bring significant financial, management and professional expertise to the Bank’s Board,” said Finance Minister Jim Flaherty, announcing the appointments.

Key has been in practice for more than 25 years, appearing before and working with various tribunals, municipal and provincial planning boards, city councils and the three levels of courts in the province.
