Canadians are getting together to show their true colours.
November 12 marks the start of National Bullying Awareness Week in Canada. This year's theme "stand up," encourages Canadians of all ages to acknowledge that bullying exists, but it's also important to strive for change.
Kids Help Phone has put together a 30-second video featuring some of Canada's biggest names in the music industry, including Pierre Bouvier from Simple Plan, Jacob Hoggard from Hedley, and hosts from both MuchMusic and MTV Canada.
Throughout the black and white video clip, artists hold uplifting phrases about hope and bullying, with a special cover of 'True Colors' playing in the background. Under the name Artists Against, a group composed of Jacob Hoggard, Lights, Pierre Bouvier, Fefe Dobson, Kardinal Offishall, Alyssa Reid, and Walk Off The Earth have created their own version of Cyndi Lauper's classic 'True Colors,' according to MuchMusic.
The video itself is quite similar to the one created by bullying victim Amanda Todd in September, as she held up cue cards telling her heartbreaking story. The 15 year old's suicide a month later became a horrible reminder for Canadians, and the world, of the terrible potential results of targeted bullying.
As of Tuesday, 100 per cent of the proceeds from a "True Colors" iTune purchase will go to Kids Help Phone.

I ask that we all watch her video and share her story so that her loss is not in vain. Allow this to be her legacy... Allow us all to look around & find the next Amanda before another precious spunky teenager is lost. We have a responsibility today... Is there a kid in your school that made a mistake and is being shunned? Your challenge is to be a LEADER ... Be the Game Changers you are and sit with them today... reach out... smile... let them know that they are NOT alone in this harsh world. It's always EASY to do the EASY thing; we teach you to NOT do what is easy and instead, do what is right!! You will be surprised, how many people will follow YOU when you stick up for what is Right and honorable AND, forgiving those that have made mistakes in their YOUTH is the RIGHT thing to do!! Please share Amands's Story... SHARE IT & LIVE IT!"
