B.C. man wanted for sex assault deported from Australia

A Delta, B.C., man wanted on sex assault charges is back in Canada in police custody after being arrested in Australia last month.

Jamieson Richard Glendinning, 63, was wanted on an outstanding warrant for charges of gross indecency, indecent assault and sexual assault for alleged incidents involving an undisclosed number of male and female victims of elementary and high school ages.

The charges date back to the 1980s and 90s, when he was involved with the Tsawwassen Amateur Baseball Association.

Glendinning was arrested, charged and released in September 2010 but failed to appear in court in June.

"At that time, the Delta Police Department and Canadian Border Service Agency continued our efforts to locate him over the next few months," said Delta police spokesperson Cieran Feenan.

"He was subsequently located in Sydney, Australia. At that point he was arrested and held pending his return to Canada."

Glendinning is scheduled to appear in Surrey Provincial Court on Nov. 20.
