Photos from the scene show shattered glass covering the street. Police have closed the Bay and Adelaide intersection, Global Toronto said.

The Trump International Hotel & Tower Toronto is located at 325 Bay St. It is a 65-storey luxury hotel and condo building that opened in January.

The cause of the falling glass appears to be related to building maintenance, reports CP24.

"The panel appears to have been dropped by a worker during installation," she spokesperson Dorenda McNeil in a statement. "This incident is not related to the structure of the building."

"We are very thankful that no one was hurt," said McNeil.

Toronto has seen a number of incidents of falling glass over the last few years. In March, glass fell from the Trump Tower, the Toronto Star reported. In late May, panes of glass fell off the RBC Centre closing off a number of streets in the city's financial district. And in June, glass fell from two downtown condo buildings. The rash of incidents prompted the Ontario government to change building codes in the province, CityTV reports.
