GUYSBOROUGH, N.S. - The warden of the of the District of Guysborough says the boundaries for the proposed provincial riding of East Nova are absurd.

Lloyd Hines says it made no sense for the province's independent Electoral Boundaries Commission to recommend merging the eastern portion of Antigonish County with Guysborough-Sheet Harbour.

He says the change brings together communities that don't have common interests.

Hines says the boundary review process has gone off the rails.

To illustrate his point, he mentioned the public uproar over the commission's recommendation to split the riding of Shelburne without seeking public consultation.
