The Federation of Quebec Maple Syrup Producers made news around the world when it announced in August that thousands of barrels of maple syrup had been stolen from its reserves in Saint-Louis-de-Blandford, southeast of Trois-Rivières. "I was in Europe when it happened, and I even heard about it in England," says Ray Bonenberg, who has a 1,400-tap sugar bush in the Ottawa Valley.
