One American who vowed to move to Canada after the U.S. election tried to make good on the promise, a (totally satirical) video shows.
In a YouTube video by 'The B.S. of A. with Brian Sack,' Sack attempts to "seek asylum" in Canada for four years.
Unfortunately, a Mountie informs our neighbour that disapproval of American leadership and expressing a desire to flee isn't on our official list of "good reasons to emigrate to Canada" (next time, say you're "mad about maple" or a "highly-skilled goaltender").
In fact, as HuffPost Canada has already reported, moving from the U.S. to Canada isn't that simple. To become a Canadian citizen, one must obtain a permanent resident card, which requires skills desirable in the workforce, a plan and cash to start a business, or family ties in Canada. In addition, there are language requirements, residency requirements, a citizenship test, and in some cases a medical examination.
Don't worry, American friend, it's nothing to cry aboot. After all, we have universal health care, higher taxes, and ties to the Queen of England -- all things you hate. We just hope you took that rare Canadian one-dollar bill with you when you left -- we haven't seen one of those in ages!
