Truck driver charged after crash closes Highway 400

The Ontario Provincial Police have charged a Toronto man with careless driving after his tractor trailer was involved in a single-vehicle crash that closed a portion of Highway 400 for more than 12 hours.

According to an OPP media release, the 47-year-old's tractor trailer was travelling in the northbound lanes of the highway on the overpass curve at Highway 11, when it slid onto its side just after 11 a.m. Saturday.

The vehicle was carrying refrigerated goods, which were unloaded by hand after the crash. The road did not reopen until 11:30 p.m.

The OPP announced Sunday that its officers had completed their investigation into the crash.
