CLARENVILLE, N.L. - It could be more than a week before a section of the Trans-Canada Highway reopens in eastern Newfoundland.

Transportation Minister Paul Davis says tonnes of rock and debris have to be removed from the highway east of Clarenville after a rock slide on the weekend.

As well, the rock face requires more blasting to make the area safe.

Traffic is being rerouted through Northwest Brook to get around a three-kilometre stretch of the TCH.
