Former Liberal MP Discepola dies

Former Liberal MP and one-time mayor of Kirland Nick Discepola has died.

Liberal Party Leader Bob Rae describe Discepola as a dedicated MP.

"It's with much sadness that we have learned of the death of former Liberal MP Nick Discepola," Rae said.

In a statement, Rae said that Discepola had a long and successful career as businessman and continually defended the interests of the Kirkland population.

Born Nunzio Discepola in Italy in 1949, he served as MP for what is now known as the Vaudreuil-Soulanges riding from 1993 to 2004.

He was mayor of Kirkland from 1989-1993.

Discepola was 62.
