FREDERICTON - New Brunswick's Green Party says it wants to see most residents in the province served by community-based collaborative care teams within five years.

Leader David Coon says the idea would see family doctors working with nurses, nurse practitioners, mental health counsellors, respiratory educators and dieticians all under one roof in community health centres.

Coon says the proposal would help people avoid hospitals.

He wants Health Minister Hugh Flemming to make it his top priority.
