MEDICINE HAT, Alta. - A southern Alberta man accused of murder in the case of a missing college student has been denied bail.

Jerrison Stopanski (stah-PAN'-skee) has been in custody since June when he was charged with second-degree murder.

His arrest came just days after Medicine Hat College student Amy Lewis was reported missing.

The 23-year-old's body has not been found.

Stopanski, who is 34, is to return to court Dec. 11.

A date for a preliminary hearing is to be set at that time.
