All eyes were on the Grey Cup halftime show last night to catch a glimpse of Canadian pop-star powerhouses Justin Bieber and Carly Rae Jepsen. While the two Scooter Braun proteges had their detractors during their performances, for true Beliebers, it was nothing but bliss. Very familiar bliss.
Fresh off his recent Diamond Jubilee overalls debacle, the Biebs presented a much slicker version of himself Sunday night, with a sleeveless top and a pair of leather, drop-crotch/harem pants creating his all-black ensemble.
We've seen Justin in this MC-Hammer inspired look quite a bit recently: He donned a bright-white pair for his Victoria's Secret fashion show appearance, just before his big fallout with Selena, where he opted for a solemn grey pantaloon (perhaps fitting for his locked-out-of-her-home-and-heart situation). A mere night later, he was back in action in all his red-leather, dropped-crotch glory for the AMAs. And Grey Cup makes it four. Is this the Biebs' new signature look?
Carly Rae jepsen also didn't stray far from her teen-dream style, although we had high hopes for the singer when she tweeted herself in some edgy, Canadian-designed outfits pre-Grey Cup. The 26 year-old singer opted for a motorcycle jacket and sheer layered skirt, and was also in all black, which added a bit of maturity to her normally sweet look, but not much.
Canadian legend Gordon Lightfoot and Mariana's Trench also joined Bieber and Jepsen onstage, but the teen set didn't seem to know who the former was.
