Driver watching TV police show pulled over

A Kingston, Ont., man was so busy watching a TV cop show while he was driving his SUV, he failed to notice a police officer trying to get him to pull over, Ontario Provincial Police say.

OPP in South Frontenac County said they attempted to pull over the driver of the SUV on Highway 15, north of Highway 401, on Saturday, after getting a report of a man watching television while driving.

Police said it appeared the driver was having a difficult time staying in his lane.

When a police car pulled alongside the vehicle, an officer could see there was a phone mounted on the dashboard and the driver was so intent on watching the police drama Rookie Blue, he didn't notice the cruiser until the officer turned on the vehicle's emergency lights.

A 28-year-old Kingston man has been charged with careless driving.
