Amanda Catano Wedding: Couple Goes Ahead With Wedding Despite Cancer Diagnosis

Couple Goes Ahead With Their Wedding, Despite Cancer Diagnosis

If you're obsessing over which table linens will perfectly complement your chair covers, here's a story to put your wedding planning into perspective.

Amanda Catano, 32, was diagnosed with stage four colon cancer, but that's not stopping her and her fiance, Jason Dorais, from continuing with their plans to become husband and wife.

The Utah couple started dating a year and a half ago, and Jason has stayed by Amanda's side throughout her battle with cancer. At one point, Amanda was too sick to get out of bed, and Jason saw this as the perfect opportunity to surprise her with a marriage proposal.

"We were up in her room, we had just woken up from a little nap and I had the ring kind of stashed under her bed. I just 'put a ring on it'," Jason told local broadcaster KSL of their proposal.

Jason was initially attracted to Amanda's fun and positive personality, and she's certainly maintained a positive outlook on life, despite her diagnosis.

"I haven't been angry or really asking 'why is this happening to me?' so much as it's just what life has dealt me," the bride-to-be said.

It's unknown how much time the couple will have together, but they haven't given up hope. They plan to wed in a small celebration on December 21st and will have a larger wedding in the spring, depending on Amanda's health.
