Christy Clark hires new staffers

Despite her government trying to cut costs, Premier Christy Clark has hired several new staffers for her office.

Former CBC journalist Ben Chin has been recruited as Clark's new director of communications. Chin has also served as director of media relations for Ontario Premier Dalton McGuinty.

Chin replaces Sara MacIntyre, a former press secretary to Prime Minister Stephen Harper, who served less than a year in Clark's office.

Several other staffers have been moved into the premier's office from other parts of government.

However, a spokesperson says the moves simply replace others who have left so there is no increase in overall staffing numbers or budgets.

In recent months, Clark's office has seen chief of staff Ken Boessenkool quit over inappropriate conduct and the return of former Gordon Campbell press secretary Mike Morton.
