Capt. Trevor Reid with Royal Canadian Air Force 19 Wing Comox says the 16-metre Black Duck, a rescue-training support vessel, became hung up on some rocks on Vivian Island near Powell River, B.C., on Monday.
Reid says the vessel had been lending support during a search-and-rescue scuba diving exercise.
All nine people aboard were safely evacuated, and no one was hurt.
Colin Henthorn of the Joint Rescue Co-ordination Centre in Victoria says a helicopter and coast guard vessel helped with the quick evacuation.
Reid says the ship wasn't taking on water, and a coast guard crew would be determining how to safely remove the Black Duck from the rocks.
