Speed and icy road factors in crash that led to woman's death in minivan:police

CRANBROOK, B.C. - A 52-year-old woman has died in a head-on crash south of Cranbrook, B.C.

RCMP say the collision occurred at about 7:30 a.m. Wednesday on Highway 3, where a minivan heading northbound crossed the centre line and struck a dump truck.

The driver of the van sustained minor injuries but the passenger was trapped in the vehicle and died at the scene.

The truck driver was not injured.

RCMP say speed and icy road conditions were factors in the crash. (CKFR)
