Transit Police are investigating after two large pieces of bronze Coast Salish art were stolen from SkyTrain stations in Burnaby and Coquitlam.

Transit Police say the artworks, which commemorated the role of First Nations in the building of the Millennium SkyTrain line, were removed from concrete pillars in front of Holdom Station in Burnaby and Braid Station in Coquitlam.

The sculptures are about one metre diameter and weigh about 90 kilograms.

“It would have taken a considerable effort by more than one suspect to not only remove but to also transport from the scene,” Transit Police said in a written release.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers.
