Man, 63, dies in Hwy 401 crash in Mississauga

A 63-year-old man is dead after his car hit an embankment while exiting Highway 401 in Mississauga, police say.

The accident happened Sunday afternoon at around 3:40 p.m. at the eastbound ramp at Winston Churchill Blvd.

Police said the man was driving east on the highway and turned off at Winston Churchill Blvd., but did not make the turn on the ramp. His Volkswagen Tiguan, continued through the median crossing and hit the embankment.

The driver, whose name has not yet been released, was pronounced dead at the scene.

There were no other vehicles involved in the collision and no other passengers in the car.

Ontario Provincial Police are investigating the crash and are asking anyone with information to contact the OPP Port Credit Detachment at (905) 278-6131.
