EDMONTON - Investigators say an armed man shot by Edmonton police during a bank robbery has died.

The man, who was 24, underwent surgery in hospital but died of his injuries.

The robbery took place Tuesday at the Canadian Western Bank at the South Edmonton Common shopping complex.

Two officers fired several shots at a suspect, who was taken to hospital in critical condition.

No customers or staff at the bank were injured.

The Alberta Serious Incident Response Team is reviewing the actions of the officers.
