Google Top Search 2012: Granville Island Brewing Canada's Most-Searched Craft Beer

The Most Searched Craft Beer Is..
Granville Island Brewing

No craft beer in the country drew more online interest this year than Vancouver's own Granville Island Brewing.

That's according to Google Zeitgeist's 2012 Top Canadian Searches, which ranked the West Coast brewery tops among Canadian craft beers searched.

Granville Island Brewing became Canada's first microbrewery when it opened in 1984.

The company initially made its name with Island Lager and has since created popular flavours such as Kitsilano Maple Cream Ale, English Bay Pale Ale and Robson Street Hefeweizen. Its seasonal Lions Winter Ale won a silver medal at the 2011 World Beer Championships.

Trailing Granville Island Brewing were Toronto's Amsterdam Brewing Company, Calgary's Big Rock Brewery and Ontario's Big Rock Brewery.

B.C.'s Okanagan Spring and Dead Frog breweries also made the list at numbers seven and 10, respectively.
