Fire Chief Tim Armstrong says the fire was at the back of the residence, but when crews went in the front door, they found the victim on the floor.
"They commenced CPR, worked on the male victim with paramedic crews. The male was transported to Royal Columbian hospital, but unfortunately he succumbed to his injuries."
Armstrong says it's too early to say how the fire started or what killed the man, who was believed to be in his 70's. His identity has not been released.
The chief did note at this time of year everyone needs to be careful with electrical hookups and kitchen fires when they are cooking.Suggest a correction
