The body of Summer Star Elizabeth Krista-Lee (CJ) Fowler, 16, of the Gitanmaax First Nation Band near Terrace, was discovered in a Kamloops neighbourhood Dec. 5 by a man walking his dog.
Parents Matilda Fowler and Glen Wilson appeared in Vancouver Wednesday with Assembly of First Nations National Chief Shawn Atleo and other aboriginal leaders to join the call for the federal inquest.
"I'm going to find who did this," a sobbing Matilda Fowler told the news conference. "I want justice for my daughter and I don't want any more young girls going missing or murdered."
Atleo said Canada’s First Nations are committed to pressing for an inquiry.
"Get to the root causes of how it is we continue to experience this lurching from tragedy to tragedy, from grief to grief, with yet another family faced with the kind of circumstances and asking the same questions," Atleo said.
