WestJet Airline's Flash Mob At Calgary Airport: Surprises Passengers Taking Red-Eye Flight To Toronto (VIDEO)

WestJet airlines surprised passengers waiting to board a red-eye flight at Calgary airport by offering them an alternative express flight to the North Pole.

With the help of nine hidden cameras and 105 WestJet volunteers, the airline flash mobbed its guests waiting to board a sold out flight to Toronto last Tuesday, giving them a whole new reason to be jolly.

"Attention all WestJet guests, for your holiday pleasure we have created a new flight option for you," said an announcement, "Now boarding out of gate D49 an express flight to the North Pole," the WestJet employee exclaimed.

The gate adorned with Christmas lights and fake snow made way for elves who danced in as "Deck the halls with boughs of holly," played on the sound system.

Surprised passengers started recording the performance while snowmen danced and WestJet staff wearing Christmas sweaters sang along to the Christmas carol.

Santa arrived at an airport golf cart, taking photos and handing out presents to commuters and wished everyone a Merry Christmas and a good flight.

That's not all. He waited until the flight took off and waved goodbye to commuters, who were excited to spot him outside their window.

Complete with elves, Christmas carolers and a Santa decked out in WestJet's signature blue suit, the airline flew down Christmas spirit to the Calgary airport.

When the flash mob ended guests were treated to a photo with Santa and a stocking filled with gifts from WestJet, including a new iPod, the company said in a statement.

"We can't think of a better way to wish our guests the very best this holiday season than with the WestJet Christmas Flashmob," said Corey Evans, WestJet Manager, Sponsorship and Community Investment.

"Events like these directly align with WestJet's fun and friendly image and our commitment to deliver a remarkable guest experience," he added.

This is not the first time WestJet has been creative with its customers. In April of this year, the airline played a prank on customers with a Kargo Kids video, that outlines a new program offering child-free flights while children were shipped into the cargo compartment.

The airline says it will donate flights to reunite a family in need through one of the airline's partner charities, should their flash mob video generate 25,000 views on YouTube, a goal it has already met.
