The RCMP has learned that Tuesday’s brazen shooting in Richmond’s Ikea parkade was a targeted attack.

After interviewing several witnesses and reviewing surveillance footage, police say the intended target is known to them but the incident is not gang-related.

A dark green minivan was seen fleeing the area immediately after the shooting. A detailed description of the vehicle is not available nor is a description of the suspect or suspects.

“To say that this incident is very concerning is an understatement”, said Cpl. Sherrdean Turley, Media Relations Officer for Richmond RCMP. “Given the time of day and location, the total disregard of public safety is appalling.”

Call Richmond RCMP at 604-278-1212 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 if you have information on this incident.
