Toronto Star:

Marineland served a $1.25 million lawsuit against former trainer Christine Santos on Thursday for telling the Star a killer whale was sporadically bleeding from its tail.

The suit says whale's cuts were minor and that Santos knew that.

“Ms. Santos’ communication of the (allegations) to the Star was calculated to disparage Marineland in its business,” We do not think so. Marineland seems to be doing a fine job of that all by themselves through suing anyone who disagrees with them or is concerned for the animals. Maybe if they spent some of the money used for lawsuit on their animals care it would really help, not all their heavy handed threat tactics.

SeaWorld sued their OSHA whistle blowers and won. Loro Parque is now trying to sue Dr. Ingrid Visser for her whistle blowing on the Orca Morgan. Now Marineland are trying to shut-up their whistle blower. This appears to be the new trend for these insidious Display parks. It's alright to put a sentient mammal in a barren tank but no one can report on the state of these shameful imprisonments.

The poor and ongoing condition of the animals there is well documented. There are multiple trainers who will be able to verify the whale's bleeding. Marineland will most likely never recover from this.
I hope the animals get better homes.

Wow - just look at that disgusting abuse of these magnificent very large marine animals swimming around and around all day long in little enclosures so people can pay to gawk at them. How anyone can take their kids to these disgusting places is beyond me.

After reading the rest of the article at Toronto Star.com, I believe everything Santos has
stated. I'm wondering if the reason she was fired is because she knew too much about
what was happening at Marineland. Former trainer, Christine Santos, basically says she
is strong of spirit and that she will fight this lawsuit. I hope Christine wins. Whoever
would have thought that the conditions at Marineland were so deplorable and that the
animals there suffered so much because of such poor water quality.
