Obama in tears: 'Our hearts are broken'

Visibly emotional as he wiped tears from his eyes, U.S. President Barack Obama said that the hearts of the nation were broken today for the families of those killed in an elementary school in Connecticut on Friday morning.

Speaking from the White House with his head lowered through much of his speech, Obama said that “we’ve endured too many of these tragedies in the past few years and each time I learn the news I react not as a president, but as anybody else would, as a parent."

"We're going to have to come together and take meaningful action to prevent more tragedies like this, regardless of the politics," he said.
