Sailboat off Tsawwassen no longer in danger of sinking

A sailboat that nearly sank Saturday afternoon after taking on water is out of danger for now.

The Joint Rescue Coordination Centre says the boat, off the shore between Point Roberts and the Tsawwassen ferry terminal, started taking on water very quickly around 2 p.m. PT with four people on board.

Two of passengers were rescued by a BC Ferries fast ship.

The other two remained behind to try to save the boat.

The Coast Guard was able to pump out a lot of the water and officials are investigating the source of the leak.
