An Airdrie school teacher charged with sexual interference has been arrested after he allegedly continued contact with the 17-year-old victim.

John Christopher Miller has been charged with 12 counts of breach of recognizance in addition to a sexual interference charge.

A patrolling RCMP officer recognized Miller's vehicle leaving the area of George MacDougall High School in Airdrie, where he used to teach, the RCMP said in a release.

"Concerned, the officer entered into an investigation and was able to determine that Miller had in fact continued contacting the 17-year-old victim," the release added.

The 35-year-old was charged in October of this year, after concern was raised about his alleged relationship with the female student. At the time, he was released under the condition that he would not be in contact with the alleged victim.

Miller is currently in police custody.
