Pedestrian dies after Scarborough collision

A 68-year-old pedestrian was struck and killed while crossing a major thoroughfare in Scarborough Tuesday night.

The collision occurred at around 9:45 p.m. on Kingston Road at Beechgrove Drive.

The man was trying to cross from the south side of Kingston Road to the north side on the west side of the intersection, Toronto police said.

It was at that time that a 2005 Infiniti, which was driving westbound as it approached a green light at Beechgrove Drive, struck the man, said police.

The man suffered severe head injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, said Toronto EMS.

Police have not yet laid any charges, and are appealing to any witnesses to come forward. Witnesses have been asked to call police at 416-808-1900 or Crime Stoppers at 416-222-8477.

The collision came on the same day that two other pedestrians were struck by a tow truck in downtown Toronto. One woman suffered life-threatening injuries in the collision, while one man suffered minor injuries.
