This week’s snow storm in Metro Vancouver revealed once again (as it does every few years) just how ill-equipped most drivers are for even the most basic tasks like clearing windshields.
We would like to salute the resourcefulness of our fellow British Columbians who scoff at spending 10 bucks at Canadian Tire for a lowly snow brush.
Here are some of the crazy things we’ve seen Metro Vancouver drivers use to brush snow off their vehicles. (We do not admit doing this ourselves.)
If we’ve missed any other “snow brush” alternatives that you know of, please add them to the comments below.
Story continues after slideshow:
Toy shovel
Oh look, a leftover from the summer family road trip wedged in the minivan. That’ll do.
Umbrellas
It’s got a handle kinda like a snow brush., and almost every Metro Vancouver driver’s got one in the car.
Credit card
Those hard plastic edges work particularly well for icy hunks of snow.
Cardboard
Looks a bit ghetto but it covers a surprisingly large area in a short time.
Sleeve
Tried and true method.
Bubble wand
This was actually used by a daycare teacher.
Hand
Gloves optional.
