The girls were walking in the Senlac Road and Sheppard Avenue West area Thursday at around 3:30 p.m. when they noticed a man following them, according to police.
Two of the girls ran ahead, feeling uncomfortable with the situation. While the third continued to walk at her normal pace, the man allegedly grabbed her by the waist and tried to pull her back.
When she pulled away he grabbed her backpack but she then was able to escape and run away.
The man eventually caught up with the children and attempted to grab another girl. The three 10-year-olds managed to get away and fled to a side street.
Police say the man was last seen walking southbound on Senlac Road, towards Sheppard Avenue West.
The man did not say anything to the girls but police say he made moaning noises and was seen stepping to the road and then to the sidewalk several times.
The suspect is described as white, in his late 40s or early 50s, tall, with short brown hair. He was clean-shaven and was wearing a dark colour, ripped toque, a grey or brown jacket and baggy, ripped jeans with brown shoes.
