CORMAN PARK, Sask. - The reeve of the Rural Municipality of Corman Park says she's happy the province has rejected a petition asking for the municipality to be split in two.

Judy Harwood says it didn't seem to be on the radar of anyone she spoke to during the election campaign this past fall.

The idea to split the municipality was proposed by former reeve Mel Henry, who was defeated by Harwood in that election.

The RM still has a number of outstanding issues to address left over from the previous administration, including a severance package in one of two wrongful dismissal lawsuits.

Harwood says council will be attending a special in-camera meeting to talk about those legal issues.

She wants council to get on with more current issues such as planning, water and roads.

Government Relations Minister Jim Reiter turned down the petition, which had more than two thousand signatures.
