Snowboarder search underway in Metro Vancouver

Rescue crews on Vancouver’s North Shore are trying to reach a snowboarder reported stranded near Cypress Bowl, just days after rescuing a man after a gruelling two-day search in the same area.

North Shore Search and Rescue says the boarder is in the Montizambert Creek area, a steep ravine just north of Horseshoe Bay in West Vancouver.

There’s no word yet whether the person is hurt.

On Tuesday, rescuers picked up 33-year-old Sebastien Boucher, from the mountain after he took a wrong turn snowboarding and ended up lost for two nights in freezing temperatures.

Cypress Mountain officials say it's not possible to go out of bounds on the area's slopes without passing a number of signs and a rope barrier. They said they planned on billing Boucher $10,000 to help meet the resuce team's expenses.
